VISION BENEFITS

Use your benefits

Got vision coverage through work, school or a private plan? Most plans reimburse prescription glasses, and claiming your GRAEL order is pretty straightforward.

How it works

  1. Check your coverage. Log in to your insurer's app or website, or check your benefits booklet, and look for your vision care amount and how often you can claim (many plans allow a new pair every 12 or 24 months).

  2. Order your glasses. On grael.ca, as usual.

  3. Keep your receipt. We email you an itemized receipt when you order.

  4. Submit your claim. Through your insurer's app, website or claim form. Attach the receipt, and a copy of your prescription if your plan asks for it.

  5. Get reimbursed. Your insurer pays you back, usually straight to your bank account.

What's on your receipt

  • your order number and date
  • each frame and its lenses, with lens type and any coatings
  • taxes, shipping and the total
  • how you paid

If your insurer asks for anything more, like our optician's details, or has its own vision claim form, email it to us and we'll fill in the provider section for you.

Good to know

  • We don't bill insurers directly (yet). You pay us, then claim it back from your plan.
  • Coverage varies by plan. We can't promise what your plan will pay, so check your vision maximum before ordering. If your order costs more than your coverage, you pay the difference.
  • Need a copy of your prescription? Ask the eye doctor who examined you.
